Shake Milton buried a 32-footer and scored 14 points and Joel Embiid had a playoff-best 40 points and 13 rebounds to lead the 76ers to a 118-102 victory over the Atlanta Hawks to even the Eastern Conference semifinals 1-1 on Tuesday night.
The Sixers had no bench points in the first half and squandered a 21-point lead, while Trae Young hit a couple of free throws to give Atlanta an early 80-79 lead.
But Milton buried a quick 3-pointer to make it 82-80 for Philadelphia’s first bench points in 34 minutes. He then hit a long-distance 3-point shot that sent the Sixers into the fourth quarter with a 91-84 lead. Milton then went on to make a jump shot early in the fourth quarter to make it 95-84.
For the Hawks, Trae Young scored 21 points, Danilo Gallinari scored 21, and Kevin Huerter had 20.
Both teams will meet again in Game 3 on Friday in Atlanta.
