Free-agent point guard Dennis Schroder announced Tuesday on Instagram that he is joining the Boston Celtics.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN was told that the Celtics are set to sign Schroder to a one-year, $5.9 million deal.
The 27-year-old previously rejected an extension proposal from the Los Angeles Lakers.
“I’m proud to announce that for the 2021-22 season I’ll be playing for the Boston Celtics!” wrote Schroder. “This is one of the best franchises in NBA history and it will be a honour to put on the green and white and do what I love! I’m going out there every night and leaving it all on the floor for the city!! Who’s ready?”
Schroder joined the Lakers from the Oklahoma City Thunder during last year’s NBA draft. He was traded for Danny Green and last year’s first-round pick.
Schroder, who averaged 15.4 points and 5.8 assists in 61 games for the Lakers,.said he was the only player on the Lakers who had not been vaccinated. He maintained that he did not plan to get one.
“I’m the only guy that didn’t get vaccinated,” he said. “I’ll just leave it at that.”
