The Chicago Blackhawks traded two-time Norris Trophy winner Duncan Keith to the Edmonton Oilers on Monday.
The Blackhawks will receive defenseman Caleb Jones and a conditional 2022 third-round draft pick in return. As part of the trade, the Oilers will also receive AHL center, Tim Soderlund.
It was reported that no salary was retained as part of the trade, with Keith having two years left on his contract.
In a statement, Stan Bowman, the Blackhawks general manager, said Keith,“will go down as one of the best and most driven defensemen this game has ever seen.
“Recently, Duncan came to us with a request to be traded to a team closer to his son,” he continued, “And we were happy to work something out that was mutually beneficial for Duncan’s family and the future of the Blackhawks.”
