Coach Mike Vrabel said the Titans would wait until Friday to make a final decision on activating Derrick Henry, though expecations are certainly that Henry will be in the lineup Saturday when Tennessee hosts the Cincinnati Bengals.
“Derrick is progressing well,” Vrabel said Henry. “We will see and make a determination on him tomorrow. Obviously, I think his workload probably increased throughout the week.”
That increased workload is yet another sign that Henry will be in the backfield in the AFC Divisional Playoff Game. The Titans have until Friday at 3 p.m. CT to recall Henry from injured reserve and add him back to the 53-man roster. Henry has not played since breaking the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot on Oct. 31. He had surgery with a plate placed in the foot a few days later.
Henry’s teammates are certainly happy to have him back and the shot of confidence that he brings with his return. The Titans were able to secure the No. 1 seed without Henry the second half of the regular season, and now appear poised for his return now that the postseason is here.
