The movement started with the Milwaukee Bucks and quickly trickled through the sports world.
Early in the afternoon on Wednesday, August 26, the Bucks decided to boycott their game against the Orlando Magic.
In order to bring attention to racial injustice and the recent shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the Bucks refused to leave the locker room.
The Milwaukee Bucks, who regularly play their home games just 40 miles north of Kenosha, were the first team to take a stand by not taking the court.
Soon thereafter the Magic walked off the court and left the arena, and the remaining games on the NBA schedule were canceled.
However, the movement wasn’t just happening in the NBA. The WNBA, MLB, and MLS soon followed.
