Canadiens assistant GM Trevor Timmins still remembers the dinner he had with Cole Caufield before selecting him in the first round of the 2019 NHL Draft in Vancouver.

“My most vivid memory of Cole is we took him for dinner and he ordered this big sundae for dessert and it was huge,” Timmins said Thursday. “A pile of ice cream and chocolate and butterscotch sauce all over it and we all joked about that. But he burns that off pretty quick. So I always joke with him about that. But very happy that he’s part of our organization.”

Caufield’s love for ice cream didn’t scare off the Canadiens and neither did the fact he’s only 5-foot-7. They selected him with the 15th overall pick and it certainly looks like it was a smart decision after Caufield made…
