State boys basketball roundup: Caledonia edges Minneapolis North in Class 2A semifinal showdown


Caledonia 60, Minneapolis North 55: Caledonia had three players score in double-figures Wednesday, led by 14 points and eight rebounds from Austin Klug as the Warriors moved into the Class 2A title game.

Davon Townley had 19 points on 8-for-10 shooting for the Polars, while adding 10 rebounds.

Minneapolis North went just 1 for 18 from 3-point range.

Caledonia reached the final without star player Eli King, who suffered a season-ending injury early in the season.

Waseca 72, Fergus Falls 58: Andrew Morgan scored 24 to go with 11 rebounds and Kyreese Willingham added 20 points — including four 3-pointers — as Waseca moved into the Class 2A title game.

Waseca and Caledonia will meet at 3 p.m. Saturday at Target Center.

Waseca scored 44 points in the first half.  The Bluejays shot 53 percent from the field for the game.

Fergus Falls got 20 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots from Chance Fazio.


Hancock 65, Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s 53: Matt Thompson (20 points), Kody Berget (18) and Preston Rohloff (14) combined for 52 of Hancock’s 65 points to power the Owls into the Class A final.

Thompson was 7 for 11 from the field, adding 19 rebounds and three blocks.

Kaleb Wait scored 19 for Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s, while Trent Steffensmeier added 17.
