Stars notebook: Dallas gets boost from depth pieces, Denis Gurianov contributes in return

A pair of depth forwards have begun to produce for the Stars, as both Mason Marchment and Radek Faksa are riding hot streaks. Both scored on Wednesday against Chicago.

Marchment now has three goals and two assists in the last five games, after scoring just once in the previous 13 games. His third-period goal drew the Stars within one on Wednesday, and came off a feed from Tyler Seguin.

“I love that shot,” Marchment said. “I love sitting there and waiting for it to come to me. It was a great pass by Seggo, and luckily it went in.”

Faksa, meanwhile, has three goals and an assist in the last five games. He had just one assist in the first 15 games of the season.

“He’s starting to roll,” DeBoer said. “He’s starting to play with confidence, he’s starting to skate, he’s starting to move. There’s a lot of good things happening there. It was slow build for him, I think he had a slow start. He’s definitely trending in the right direction and we need him.”

The offensive boost is welcome for Faksa, who had just 11 total goals in 132 games across the previous two seasons. He said he worked on skating more in the offseason.

“If you’re skating better, you will get more chances, you will get more offense from that,” Faksa said.
