Scott Boras has only been Carlos Correa’s agent for a couple days, but he’s already flattering the Astros. The high-powered baseball agent talked up the current talent on the Astros roster and – of course – the value of them retaining his free agent shortstop when he talked to Fox 26’s Mark Berman at the airport on Wednesday night.
”The Astros, when you look at them, they have three or four young pitchers, but they also have six potential great position players who are all relatively young,” said Boras, who was hired by Correa on Tuesday. “So, it’s an organization that’s been at the championship level of play for three or four years and yet that can continue for six or seven if they are able to retain those true core pieces of All-Star level talent that they already possess.”
Two of those “relatively young” position players – Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman – are both Boras clients, as is one of the young pitchers – Lance McCullers.
