Saquon Barkley finding way to contribute at Giants camp

Observations from Thursday’s Giants training camp session.

He remains on the physically unable to perform list but that does not mean Saquon Barkley is excused from making a contribution. As he walked off the field, he stopped to show RB Devontae Booker what looked to be tips on how to get a clean break off the line of scrimmage. Barkley showed examples of a few techniques before the two continued into the facility.

Dante Pettis caught 38 passes in his two seasons with the 49ers and he had only four receptions in seven games in 2020 with the Giants. Finding a role on special teams will greatly assist his chances of staying around. He dropped the first punt to come his way and cleanly hauled in the second.

Caught My Eye

It only took two days for Joe Judge’s “lesson laps’’ to appear. He sends players on a slow jog around the field for penalties or mental mistakes. Rookie LB Azeez Ojulari gets the distinction of being the first player this camp to run. C Nick Gates was next and Daniel Jones, WR Alex Bachman and OL Brett Heggie were sent off together for a stroll around the premises.

It continues to be a waiting game with WR Kadarius Toney, as the first-round pick, recently taken off the COVID-19 list was kept out of practice…
