Orioles trade Fry to Arizona

BALTIMORE—The Orioles traded left-handed pitcher Paul Fry, who was designated for assignment on Saturday to the Arizona Diamondbacks for right-handed pitcher Luis Osorio.

Fry, who was 7-16 with a 4.80 ERA in five seasons with the Orioles, had been the longest tenured pitcher on the team.

The 29-year-old, who came to the Orioles in April 2017 from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for international bonus slot money, had a 6.00 ERA in 12 games this season.

Fry was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk before Thursday’s game when the Orioles recalled infielder Rylan Bannon and designated for assignment when they claimed right-hander Beau Sulser on waivers from Pittsburgh.

Osorio, a 19-year-old Venezuelan, was 3-2 with a 5.83 ERA in 15 games for Arizona’s team in the Dominican Summer League.
