The simple view is to bill the Edmonton Oilers-Colorado Avalanche series as Connor McDavid vs. Nathan MacKinnon, but everyone knows it’s going to be the deepest team and most consistent that wins the Western Conference Final.

That’s why the Oilers rolled their eyes when Calgary’s Matthew Tkachuk suggested the Flames were letting “one guy” beat them.

“It wasn’t even talked about at all in our room,” said McDavid. “I saw that he had said that, but we’re certainly more than a one-man team. We showed that last round.

“It takes everybody. Everybody up and down the lineup and all the people behind the scenes. The staff and everybody. It takes an absolute army. That’s the mentality we have.”
