Nuggets rookie R.J. Hampton expected to enter NBA’s health and safety protocols, source says

Nuggets rookie R.J. Hampton is expected to enter the NBA’s health and safety protocols, a league source told The Denver Post on Sunday.

Hampton is expected to be in the protocol through the All-Star break, the source said.

The Nuggets have three games remaining — at Chicago on Monday, at Milwaukee on Tuesday, at Indiana on Thursday — before the break.

Wrecked by injuries, Hampton played a valuable role when he began getting regular rotation minutes at the start of February. Over his last 10 games, he’s averaged five points and four rebounds in 17.4 minutes per game.

On Saturday, the Nuggets got back combo guard PJ Dozier, who’d missed 15 consecutive games with a hamstring injury. Heading into Monday’s game against Chicago, Gary Harris remains out with an adductor strain.
