Notes & Stats: Giants get on track vs. Carolina

*The Giants sacked Carolina quarterbacks Sam Darnold and PJ Walker six times for 27 yards in losses. The six sacks tied the team-high under Judge and defensive coordinator Patrick Graham; the Giants recorded six sacks against Dallas in the 2020 season finale on Jan. 3. The Giants’ previous high this season was three sacks vs. Atlanta on Sept. 26.

*The Giants, who played without several high-profile offensive players, did not score a first-half touchdown for the second consecutive week and the third straight home game. Their 302 yards was their second-lowest total of the season; they gained 261 yards last week vs. Los Angeles.

*The Giants did not commit a turnover for the second time this season (though their only giveaway at New Orleans on Oct. 3 was an interception on a Hail Mary on the final play of the first half). They had lost their previous three games in which had no offensive turnovers – at Washington on Sept. 16, at Baltimore on Dec. 27, 2020, and vs. Cleveland on Dec. 20, 2020. The Giants had last won when not committing a turnover on Nov. 15, 2020, against vs. the Eagles.

*Quarterback Daniel Jones displayed a versatile skillset. He completed 23 of 33 passes for 203 yards, including a five-yard touchdown pass to Dante Pettis; rushed for 28 yards on eight carries; and made a terrific one-handed catch of a Pettis pass for a 16-yard gain.
