Mac Jones’ imitation of Cam Newton a showstopper during Patriots rookie night

As it turns out, throwing the football isn’t the only skill in Mac Jones’ arsenal.

According to several players who watched the skits performed on “rookie night,” Jones stole the show with his impression of Cam Newton.

Jones walked in wearing a big hat, wore a scarf around his neck, and carried a suitcase. He had Newton down cold, said several players who were in attendance for the event, which was held a couple days ago.

“Oh man, that was dope,” linebacker Raekwon McMillan said of Jones’ skit. “This is my fifth year in the league, that’s probably the best rookie impersonation I’ve ever seen. That’s probably the best one. I give him kudos for that. That was dope.”

Asked to explain why Jones hit it out of the park, McMillan said that Jones was “spot on,” impersonating Cam to a tee.

“Everything that Cam does, how he dresses. He came in with a suitcase,” said McMillan. “You know, (it was) Cam’s swag up to the full, and he came in, and he kind of jumped out of his comfort zone, too. Mac’s kind of a chill guy, relaxed, kick back, but he came in acting like Cam. It was dope.”

Added cornerback Jalen Mills of Jones: “It was real funny to see him get out of character.”

Other rookie skits had Christian Barmore mimicking Deatrich Wise and Rhamondre Stevenson imitating running back Damien Harris.
