Jalen Ramsey and DeAndre Hopkins developed a rivalry when they were both in the AFC South from 2016-2019. But then they were traded by the Jaguars and Texans, respectively, landing both players in the NFC West.
The Rams acquired Ramsey during the 2019 season before the trade deadline, and this offseason, Houston dealt Hopkins to the Cardinals. On Sunday, they’ll renew their rivalry in their new division, and all eyes will be on this matchup at State Farm Stadium in Week 13.
Ramsey was excited to see Hopkins land in the same division as him when the trade was made, and even though he said he “felt bad for Deshaun Watson” at first, he’s not worried about the Texans anymore. He’s focused squarely on Hopkins and the Cardinals.
He relishes the opportunity to face the NFL’s top receivers, which Hopkins certainly is.
“He’s one of the best, if not the best in the league,” Ramsey said Friday. “I just enjoy playing top receivers – receivers who are not only at the top of their game, but at the top of the NFL right now. I like that challenge. I live for that. So any time I get to play him – it has been nice that I’ve played him the most of any receiver just because we’ve happened to be in the same division for a long time. … It’s all good, though, I enjoy it.”
Ramsey wouldn’t say that…
