Houston rapper Scarface announces Farewell Tour for this summer

The 51-year-old former Geto Boys member has had a ‘farewell’ performance in the past

Houston rap legend Scarface announced a 32-city run Tuesday that he’s calling “The Farewell Tour.” The tour begins in Oakland, Calif., on July 8 and wraps up with three stops in Texas – Aug. 18 in Dallas, Aug. 19 in Austin and Aug. 27 in Odessa. As of now, there’s no date on the tour listed for Scarface’s hometown of Houston.

Scarface had a “farewell” show at Houston’s House of Blues in November. Five months later, he did a set at Sugar Land’s Smart Financial Centre as an opener for Ice Cube in April.

Tickets for the summer tour, on which he will be backed by his band Formaldehyde Funkmen, go on sale Wednesday at Ticketmaster.

The Aug. 6 stop on this tour will be a special one, because it will be at LL Cool J’s Rock The Bells Festival in New York on the 20th anniversary of Scarface’s classic album “The Fix,” which gave us the classic hits “My Block” and “Guess Who’s Back.”
