In what was characterized as their dress rehearsal game, the Dallas Mavericks completely undressed the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night in a preseason game at the Spectrum Center.
Tm Hardaway Jr. tallied 20 points and Kristaps Porzingis added 17 points and seven rebounds as the Mavs completely obliterated the Hornets, winning, 127-59, to run their record to a perfect 3-0. The Mavs will finish preseason play on Friday night in Milwaukee against the defending world champion Bucks.
Following the game against Milwaukee, the Mavs will open the regular season on Oct. 21 on the road against the Atlanta Hawks.
This game was so lopsided that the Mavs led by 31 points (61-30) at the half, and by a whopping 70 points (127-57) late in the game after consecutive dunks by Feron Hunt. And even with Luka Doncic scoring just four first-half points in 18 minutes, the Mavs were still extremely dominant.
Porzingis scored half of the Mavs’ 24 first-quarter points, setting the tone for a long night for the Hornets. Meanwhile, while the Mavs were obviously strutting their stuff on the offensive end of the floor, they also flexed their muscles at the defensive end.
For instance, the Hornets went one stretch of seven minutes and 38 seconds in the first half without scoring a point. And they also went another stretch of eight minutes and 44 seconds bridging the second and third quarters without scoring a point.
