If only he had shown in public a fraction of the toughness towards Ottawa that he demonstrated in private, Jason Kenney might still be premier today.

I always maintained Kenney had a bigger problem with voters over his apparent timidity towards the federal government than over his handling of the COVID pandemic.

I’m not saying I would prefer Kenney over our new premier, Danielle Smith. The past is the past. Move on.

But from the standpoint of Kenney’s own political ambitions, he would have been much better off…
