Gregor Chisholm: Blue Jays Mailbag: Is Freddie Freeman a legitimate option?

With a deep freeze ripping through Toronto, this is normally the time of year everyone starts fantasizing about baseball.

January is typically the month the Blue Jays would be holding their annual Winter Tour, trumpeting their latest off-season additions and getting fans excited about the upcoming year. The visuals that soon follow out of Florida provide proof of an eventual thaw, the promise of warmer days and a return for the Boys of Summer.

Those sunny images will have to remain a fantasy for now because Major League Baseball has been in a lockout for five weeks and counting. With spring training rapidly approaching, a labour dispute between the players and owners threatens to cause even more delays for a sport that dealt with more than its fair share over the last two years because of the pandemic.

There isn’t much happening in baseball right now, but that’s not going to stop us from tackling another edition of the Blue Jays mailbag.
