A game against the Ottawa Senators is pretty much Guaranteed Win Night for the Edmonton Oilers this season.

And while they posted another victory Wednesday afternoon — to go 8-0 against a team since for the first time since they steamrolled the Winnipeg Jets in 1983-84 — there was nothing guaranteed about this one.

Except maybe Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

In a game that could have gone either way, McDavid and Draisaitl made sure that it didn’t. The Senators just didn’t have an answer for the Oilers superstars, who combined for all four goals in a 4-2 decision.

McDavid and Draisaitl, who’ve feasted on Ottawa this year — a combined 33 points in the previous seven games — added eight more in the eighth game, burying elite-level, highlight reel finishes that left the Senators shaking their heads in equal parts frustration and disbelief.

Draisaitl had three goals and an assist while McDavid scored the third period winner…
