With zero goals in the first nine games of the season, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is off to one of the slowest starts of his career.

And with 13 assists, he is one of the hottest players in the league.
It’s rare a professional athlete can slump and streak at the same time, but in a season where the Edmonton Oilers are posting the kind of numbers we haven’t seen in decades, maybe it’s no surprise.
“It doesn’t bother me when we are winning games,” grinned the veteran centre, who added two more helpers to his league-leading total in Wednesday’s 5-2 win over the Nashville Predators.
“You want to put some in, but I am not trying to force it. I know it will come. Or I think it will come. You just stick with it and try to make the right play in the situation. When we are winning and people are putting the puck in the net, it doesn’t bother me.”
