Dave Tippett said he would be cutting Darnell Nurse’s minutes this season.

In the first two games, Nurse has played 60 minutes out of 125.

“I’m working on it,” laughed the Edmonton Oilers coach.

Truth is Nurse, who is very much in the running for a Canadian Olympic team spot on the left side of Jon Cooper’s defence, will see the ice crack before he does. Nurse, who averaged 25:38 last season, played 32:24 of the 65-minute OT opener against Vancouver and 27:45 last Saturday in the 60-minute win over Calgary.
