The first scheduled Cubs 2021 Spring Training game is five weeks from Saturday. Per the schedule, it’ll happen Saturday, February 27 vs. the Dodgers at Sloan Park.
Major League Baseball has told teams to expect to start on time this year. Whether that happens or not is still an open question, but late Friday the Cubs sent an email to Sloan Park season-ticket holders about plans regarding seating for this year’s games.
In part, the email reads:
As part of updated guidance from MLB and in coordination with requirements and guidelines, we are shifting to limited, socially distanced pod-style seating for Spring Training games at Sloan Park in 2021. This seating method has been used by other venues and implemented by MLB during the 2020 World Series. Please note our capacity and ticket offerings may change, depending on health factors and protocols.
In order to accommodate this shift, we are unable to offer Spring Training Season Ticket Holders their season ticket seat locations for the 2021 season. However, we will provide our valued Spring Training Season Ticket Holders with priority access to purchase single game tickets before the general public.
The email has an attached form where Sloan Park STH can apply for either a refund or credit for the 2021 payment. It’s due by next Wednesday, January 27. The team says with no response, a credit will automatically be issued.
