On Friday afternoon, hours ahead of the first round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, he delivered, adding defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson and winger Conor Garland from the Arizona Coyotes in a blockbuster trade.

In exchange, the Canucks are sending wingers Antoine Roussel and Loui Eriksson, centre Jay Beagle, the ninth overall pick in the 2021 draft, plus their second-round pick in the 2022 draft and their seventh-round pick in the 2023 draft.

Ekman-Larsson, 30, is signed for six more seasons. Garland is a restricted free agent. He made just US$775,000 (all figures in U.S. dollars) this past season but has arbitration rights and will likely earn himself a nice raise after posting back-to-back solid seasons for Arizona.
